Job Description:
The Hospital Biochemist will play a crucial role in the diagnostic and therapeutic functions of the hospital. This position involves performing biochemical tests, interpreting results, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting for patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of clinical biochemistry, laboratory protocols, and quality control procedures, and will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide essential laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct and analyze a variety of biochemical tests on bodily fluids, tissues, and other samples.
Ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
Monitor quality control and ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
Prepare and review reports of biochemical tests, ensuring timely delivery of results to physicians.
Work closely with healthcare professionals to interpret biochemical data for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
Assist in the development and evaluation of new tests and laboratory techniques.
Implement and oversee quality assurance programs within the biochemistry lab.
Maintain accurate records of tests, procedures, and results, ensuring compliance with hospital standards.
Supervise and train laboratory technicians and junior staff members as required.
Participate in clinical meetings and provide input on biochemical data relevant to patient care.
Stay updated on new research and advancements in clinical biochemistry.
Follow hospital policies regarding patient confidentiality, lab safety, and ethical standards.
Collaborate with other departments for interdisciplinary patient care and research projects.
Educational Qualifications:
MD in Biochemistry from a recognized medical institution.
Valid registration with the Medical Council of India or relevant state medical boards.
